PERTH: The Australian share market has closed lower, giving back last week’s gains amid a sell-off of bank and consumer discretionary stocks.
At the close on Monday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was 76.3 points, or 1.33 per cent, lower at 5,659.2, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 70.0 points, or 1.22 per cent, at 5,660.0, according to preliminary figures.
On the ASX 24, the June share price index futures contract was 87 points lower at 5,659, with 28,663 contracts traded.
