PERTH: The Australian sharemarket looks set to open flat after US and European shares fell following disappointing Chinese industrial output figures.
At 6.45am (AEDT), the December share price index futures contract was down 2 points at 5,235.
Locally, in economic news on Tuesday, the Reserve Bank of Australia releases its monthly board meeting minutes.
Meanwhile, the ANZ-Roy Morgan weekly consumer confidence survey and the Commonwealth Bank business sales indicator for September are due out.
In equities news, Oil Search and Newcrest release quarterly production reports while Cochlear, Beacon Lighting and Bellamy’s Australia hold their annual general meetings.
In Australia, the market on Monday closed flat, reversing an early bounce as investors shifted focus to the negative aspects of Chinese industrial output figures.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 1.5 points, or 0.03 per cent, at 5,269.7 points.
The broader All Ordinaries index was up 0.9 points, or 0.02 per cent, at 5,304.6 points.
