THE Australian Export Grains Innovation Centre (AEGIC) has taken part in an Australian business delegation to Indonesia.

The Australian grains industry was represented by AEGIC chairman Terry Enright and representatives of GrainGrowers Limited and Grain Trade Australia.

Mr Enright said there was a successful round table discussion with local flour mills, organised by Austrade.

The grains delegation also visited the Bogasari flour mill, which is the largest in the world.

The Minister Assisting the Minister for Trade and Investment Senator Richard Colbeck also attended the meeting.

“This trip reinforced the importance of the work AEGIC is doing in the market,” Mr Enright said.

“The work AEGIC and the Australian grains industry is undertaking in Indonesia was recognised and appreciated.

“Australian wheat is well regarded and well established, however the industry cannot afford to be complacent.

“There are enormous potential opportunities in Indonesia, with the middle class expected to grow to 60 million in 10 years.”

More than 360 senior business people accompanied Trade and Investment Minister Andrew Robb during the Indonesia-Australia Business Week 2015 representing various industries including infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, agriculture and food sustainability, premium food and beverage, health and aged care, resources and energy, education and tourism.
