CANBERRA: Australia’s trade deficit has narrowed to $2.9 billion with imports falling and resource exports showing surprising resilience.
The seasonally adjusted trade deficit in January was better than the consensus market forecast of $3.2 billion and down 17 per cent from December’s ugly $3.5 billion result. The value of imports declined 1.1 per cent while exports rose 1.1 per cent.
