KARACHI: Auto sales in the country has witnessed 26 per cent surged in the first ten months of fiscal year 2016 against FY15,.
According to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association’s (PAMA) monthly data report, a total of 152,229 cars were sold during the first ten months of FY16, up by 26 percent against 120,942 units sold in the corresponding period of FY15.
Car sales would have further increased if there had been control over import of used vehicles, said one stakeholder. A total of 15,023 cars of all categories were sold out in the country in April against 15,272 cars in March this year. In April last year, 15,598 cars were sold out. There has been a decline of 3.7 percent as compared with April last year.
The largest number of sales in the month was recorded in cars of 1300cc or above at 7,939 units, down by 5.5 percent against 8,406 units sold in March. Toyota Corolla led the sales with 4,868 units followed by 2,761 units of Honda cars-both Civic and City, while only 329 Suzuki Swift cars were sold in this category.
