KARACHI: The Directorate of Reforms and Automation (R&A) has reportedly started working on formulating a mechanism based on ‘risk profiling scanning’.
Sources informed Customs Today that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has asked the R&A to formulate a mechanism at WeBOC to facilitate the Afghan Transit Trade (ATT) cargo through the automated system.
It is pertinent to mention here that a bulk of Afghan Transit Trade continues through One-Customs, a manual system for clearance of transit trade cargo, while the FBR wants to handle the entire Afghan Transit Trade through the automated system –WeBOC.
Sources disclosed that Reforms and Automation Director Majid Yousufani has recently held a meeting with the officers concerned in order to hand over the task of interchanging ATT traffic from manual to the automated system.
Responding to a query, sources further said that a team of the Directorate of Reforms and Automation has started its working on the directives of Majid Yousufani and will complete the entire work by the start of next month.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Afghan-Pakistan Transit Trade Coordinated Authority (APTTCA) in its recent meeting held in January has agreed to interchange the entire data of ATT to the automated system.
