Avoiding gridlock: Traffic police bans parking on Murree Road, alternative routes

RAWALPINDI: With the work on Metro Bus service is nearing completion, all kind of parking on Murree Road and alternative routes has been banned to ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic.

In a statement issued here, Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Shoaib Khurram Janbaz warned the encroacher against any venture on these roads. He asked people to use Airport Road and Peshawar Road for going to Islamabad to avoid traffic mess. He said efforts were being made by the traffic police to regulate traffic on Murree Road but without the cooperation of the citizens, traffic flow on city roads could not be managed.

The traffic police have enhanced the number of traffic wardens on Murree Road to avert gridlock on all these routes. It is to be noted that the government have announced inauguration of the Metro Bus Service on January 30, 2015.

The CTO advised the motorists to use Airport Road through Karal Chowk, and Peshawar Road through IJP Road and Golra Mor, to reach Islamabad. The citizens can also come to the city area through Rawal Road, Saidpur Road and IJP Road, he added. He said the city traffic police have also prepared a plan to keep the traffic moving as much as possible. All necessary arrangements, regarding the flow of the traffic, have been made to facilitate the citizens, mainly motorists, he said.
