Awareness session held to keep traders abreast of WeBOC

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has organised an awareness session on Web-Based One Custom System (WeBOC) to keep the business community, importers and exporters abreast of the salient features of this computerised system.

The session was presided over by representatives from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Customs, including Senior Joint Director Syed Muhammad Nadeem, Assistant Director Furkan Ahmed, Joint Director Zohra Hanif Maab, Deputy Director Waheed Akram Butt and Assistant Chief Manager Tariq Mahmood.

They explained the important features of the WeBOC like increase customs efficiency and efficient deployment of resources, minimising clearance time at port, minimising customs processing time, reduced cost of doing business, less clearing/handling charges, better cash flows, paperless and single window customs operations, transparency and integrity, correct revenue realisation, cargo information, on-line manifest filing and many others.

Speaking on the occasion, RCCI President Raja Amer Iqbal lauded the SBP and Customs team for bringing in the technologically advanced systems for the benefit of business community.

He said that Custom Department should establish facilitation desks for achieving better results and give massive awareness to the businessmen.

The RCCI president said that local importers and exporters have some serious reservations about custom procedures which could be lessen by easing these regulations and procedures.

RCCI Senior Vice President Rashid Waien, Vice President Asim Malik, members of the executive committee and a large number of traders attended the session.
