LHC to hear model Ayyan Ali’s bail plea today

LAHORE: Hearing of bail plea of super model Ayyan Ali will be proceeded in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday (today) in Lahore.

Ayyan Ali has approached the LHC for her bail in money laundering case as her application was referred to the LHC main bench in Lahore by LHC Rawalpindi bench.

The LHC has already sought a reply from the Customs authorities on a petition filed by super model Ayyan Ali.

Ayyan Ali’s lawyer Sardar Latif Khan Khosa requested the court during last hearing to place her in ‘Category B’ VIP status at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.

Justice Abdul Sami Khan also heard an appeal filed by Ayyan Ali, challenging proceedings before a Special Customs Courts, Rawalpindi, on money laundering charges against her and the dismissal of bail petition.

Sardar Latif Khosa pleaded before the court that his client had no knowledge of the laws regarding money laundering.

The defense lawyer also stated that the investigations of the case have yet to be completed. LHC Justice Abdul Sami Khan ordered jail officials to submit a report on the matter.

The court also accepted the bail plea for hearing, advising the super model’s counsel to file the plea under Section 497 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (when bail may be taken in cases of non-bailable offence). The court sought a reply from customs officials on June 26.

Now proceeding on bail plea and request to provide VIP status in jail will be held on Friday.
