BAKU: The State Customs Committee informs that last year the SCC Investigative Committee initiated 266 criminal cases.
“Last year 228 were brought to responsibility for violation of customs legislation. Court ruled arrest on 185 of them. Another four ones were placed under house arrest. Other decision were made on the occasion of the remaining offenders,” the Committee said.
According to the SCC, 22 citizens of Iran, 4 citizen of Russia, by 1 citizen from Turkey, Canada and Cameroon, and 199 citizens of Azerbaijan were drawn to criminal responsibility.
“Within criminal cases it was seized 33.847 kg of marijuana, 28.519 kg of hashish, 10.766 kg of heroin, 3.522 kg of opium, 590 g of dried marijuana, 388.803 g of methadone, 57.185 g of cocaine and psychotropic substances, 98.091 g of methamphetamine, 46 g of phenobarbital, 20 g of phenamphetine, 10.014 g conazepam, 1.635 g of alprazolam and 0.106 g of buprenorphine,” the SCC reported.
Also, for the reported term it was withdrawn 6,735 bottles of alcohol for AZN 85,827, tobacco products for AZN 80,962, 409 cell phones for AZN 61,407 currency for AZN 484,301, medicines for AZN 27,519, 13 transportation vehicles for AZN 312,200, pyrotechnics for AZN 124,855, gold jewelry for AZN 90,174, 27.955 kg of black caviar for AZN 26,104, 43.5 kg of gunpowder, 50 cartridges, 1 gas cylinder and 12 knives.
Last year customs officials destroyed 97,998.049 g of narcotic and psychotropic substances within the 121 criminal cases.
