In the previous month, a leak of documents from a company in Bahamas revealed that 158 Pakistanis among other persons from around the world owned offshore companies.

It is the second leak this year that has targeted Pakistanis for having shell companies that are largely seen as one of the means to evade tax and accumulate unaccounted-for wealth in foreign banks.

Before Bahamas leak, a Panama-based law firm, Mossack Fonseca was hit with a leak of documents that were published in a newspaper in April. At least 400 Pakistanis were revealed by the paper to have owned offshore companies including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
