KARACHI: Former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has been granted bail, while arrest warrant was issued for Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim in Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) corruption case.
The court has directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) prosecutors to produce the accused in the court on October 22. The arrest warrants were issued for Makhdoom, who did not appear in the court in seven cases relating to the TDAP scam. The cases are also registered against senior PPP leader and former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in the scandal involving misappropriation of Rs7 billion.
During the hearing, Gilani appeared in the court where the judge extended his bail till October 22 in nine pending cases. The court deferred his request for exemption from personal appearance till next hearing. On August 27, the same court issued non-bailabale arrest warrants for Gilani and Amin Fahim.
Earlier, they had been granted pre-arrest bails by the court in a dozen pending cases related to the TDAP scandal. Nearly 72 cases were registered against different officials in connection with the scandal.
