Bajwa directs Collector Faisalabad to clear 240 containers immediately

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Tariq Bajwa has directed Collector Customs Faisalabad Dry Port to clear 240 containers immediately.

According to details, at least 240 containers at Faisalabad Dry Port have not been cleared for the last two months due to alleged cold war between two top officials. These 240 containers are full of goods of importers but due to row between these two officers clearing agents are not clearing the containers.

It is important to mention here that due to this situation, importers and FBR are facing million of rupees loss in terms of customs duty.

Meanwhile, a delegation of importers under the supervision of Chairman Faisalabad Dry Port Trust Shiekh Tauseef Bari held a meeting with Chairman Bajwa and informed him about the issue. After the meeting, the chairman directed Collector Customs Tauseef Qureshi to clear the containers on urgent basis and constitute a committee to find out who will be responsible for looking after the clearance of the containers. The Collector Customs Faisalabad has started clearing the containers.
