TOKYO: Bandai Namco is going to update version of J-Stars Victory VS for the US market after the success of Dragon Ball Xenoverse in the US. The main addition is a new PS4 version alongside the already existing PS3 and PS Vita releases.
To give a bit more detail, this is a franchise of games that throws a variety of series and characters from the successful Weekly Shonen Jump manga periodical into an action based arena beat-em-up, with the latest of these games being developed by Spike Chunsoft.
Released last March in Japan on PS3 and PS Vita, this new “Plus” version now includes a PS4 release that will seemingly be exclusive for the US and European markets.
The game will feature at least 32 series and over 50 playable characters, including the likes of Naruto and One Piece. In addition, the game will feature the original Japanese dialogue with localized subtitles.
The other big thing to point out is that the game is stylistically darker in an artistic sense, as it’s not cel-sahded, and also features a lot of juicy environmental destruction. In the case of Dragon Ball that feels much more natural and was one of the admittedly minor complaint.
No word on a specific release date as yet, bar sometime this Summer, but if that’s too long to wait then feast your eyes on a Goku figure being given the holographic treatment.
