The medicines, mostly produced in the UK, were imported dodging taxes, said Assistant Superintendent Ehsanur Rahman Bhuiyan of the Armed Police Battalion which along with the Directorate General of Drug Administration assisted the mobile court.

The medicines were couriered to Dhaka from Chittagong and meant to be distributed among different drugstores in the capital, the police official added.

The manager of the cargo service office was jailed for two months and fined Tk 2 lakh.
