DHAKA: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in a drive seized 526 goat rawhides foiling a smuggling bid at Putkhali border point of Benapole here the other day.
Acting on secret information that the goat hides were being smuggled to India, a team of BGB-23 conducted a drive in the bordering area and seized 526 pieces of goat rawhides, said commanding officer of BGB-23 Lieutenant Colonel Abdur Rahim. However, BGB could not arrest anyone as the smugglers managed to flee. The market value of the goat hides is Tk 0.26 million, he added.
The seized rawhides were deposited to the Benapole customs house. A case was filed in this connection, according to officials.
