DHAKA: The paramilitary Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 33 kg of gunpowder from a bordering village in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila.
A team of the paramilitary force chased two persons in Johorpurtak area, some 500 yards away from border, when they were returning from India around 8:00am, our Chapainawabganj correspondent reports quoting Bazlul Haque, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-9.
Being chased, the alleged smugglers fled the scene leaving four packets of gunpowder at the village, the BGB official said.
They were smuggling gunpowder into the country from India for making bombs to carry out subversive activities, he claimed.
