CHITTAGONG: Bangladesh Customs has seized 24 gold bars weighting two and a half kilograms worth of Tk1.20 crore from a toilet of the Shah Amanat International Airport lounge on here the other day.
One was arrested in this connection, an customs official told Customs Today.
Assistant Commissioner Tapon Kumar Chawkrabarty of Chittagong Customs House said a flight BG-Maskat of Oman landed at Chittagong airport around 11:30pm.
Soon after the landing, customs officials found a bag of the flight at the toilet in an abandoned condition where 24 gold bars worth of Tk1.20 crore were kept in a wallet inside the bag wrapped with black tape, said AC Tapon Kumar.
He said someone left the bag at the toilet of the airport failing to come out along with the gold bars due to high security of customs.
