DHAKA: Bangladesh police have seized 45 tones of smuggled coal and arrested four smugglers on Paikertola border in Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj district here the other day.
The arrestees are Anwar Hosain, 23, Umakanta Sarkar, 50, Jalal Miah, 25, and Sohel Miah of different villages in the upazila.
On secret information, a police team raided a boat in the River Chalti at 7:30am and arrested the four along with the coal worth Tk 10 lakh, said Md Sahid Ullah, officer-in-charge of Tahirpur Police Station.
