BUDAPEST: The bank cards issued in Hungary saw a 1% decline in a year, with debit cards accounting for 84% and credit cards for 16% of that, according to data published by the National Bank of Hungary.
MNB noted that contactless payment cards made up more than 41% of the total. Domestic payments made using bank cards last year rose by 19%, reaching approximately 335 million transactions, with a total value of HUF 2.322 trillion, rising by 18.6%. The number of cash withdrawals made in Hungary with cards fell by about 9% to 105 mln, while their value rose by 5% to around HUF 6.288 trillion.
