NEW YORK: Nearly a year after relocating to Tampa, Bank of America Vice Chairman David Darnell is calling it a career. Darnell will retire by the fourth quarter, according to a statement from Bank of America the second-largest bank in the United States and the market share leader in Tampa Bay.
A 35 year veteran of the bank, Darnell is responsible for the bank’s Global Wealth and Investment Management division, which includes Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and U.S. Trust.
There was speculation last year when Darnell made the switch from working at the bank’s headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina to Tampa that the move was a prelude to retirement, but there was no announcement until late Wednesday.
