Banking Mohtasib grants Rs762.76m relief to customers, disposes of 18,482 complaints in H1 2026

ISLAMABAD: The Banking Mohtasib Pakistan granted monetary relief amounting to Rs762.76 million to banking customers by disposing of over 18,482 complaints against commercial banks during the first half of 2026, spanning January to June.

Complaints against commercial banks have been on the rise, with the Banking Mohtasib Office receiving 21,392 new complaints between January 1 and June 30, 2026, including 4,005 filed through the Prime Minister’s Portal. This compares to 16,915 complaints received during the same period last year.

Banking Mohtasib Pakistan Sirajuddin Aziz stressed the need to protect banking customers from fraud and forgery, urging them not to disclose personal and financial credentials to any third party. He advised that customers receiving suspicious calls should immediately approach the nearest branch of their bank or contact the bank’s helpline directly.

Aziz emphasised that banks’ call centres cannot make outbound calls from their respective helplines, and urged customers not to attend calls that display UAN numbers of banks.
