TOKYO: The new single player game would be released sometime in 2016 for the PC by a new studio called Candle & Key. Despite Thomas branching off, he’s still a part of Stoic and this in no way is damaging to the development of The Banner Saga 2. Creative director Alex Thomas has left the development of The Banner Saga 2 to head up development for a new game called Killers and Thieves.
Posting on the Killers and Thieves website, Thomas said that Banner Saga 2 “is in good hands” and development will continue like before. The original plan was to create a trilogy and that plan still remains. The Banner Saga 2 will release later this year for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
As for Killers and Thieves, players control a feudal thieves’ guild with aim on its growth and expansion. New inexperienced thieves will be regularly recruited and trained by sending on missions. More experienced thieves will be able to take on harder missions, which in turn spell better rewards.
Gold earned through missions can be spent on upgrading the guild, improving the thieves’ abilities and their holdings, and more. Players will ultimately have to balance out risk against reward for each task. The game will feature a mixture of management elements and stealth game play.
Killers and Thieves will probably end up on Steam Early Access. According to Thomas, Candle & Key will not be opting for a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds.
