Beef, pork exports value decrease for 2015

WASHINGTON: Beef and pork export values for 2015 were below the 2014 record totals according to the USDA’s latest Trade and Market Statistics Report and compiled by the North American Meat Institute.

According to NAMI, beef and pork export values were both below 2014 record totals. Beef export value reached $6.3 billion, which represented a 12% decline from the record $7.13 billion set in 2014. Meanwhile, pork export value fell 16% to total $5.5 billion in 2015.

Total beef and export volumes also both declined compared to 2014 figures. Beef export volume decreased 11% from 2014, while pork export volume fell 2% compared to 2014 totals. South Korea was a bright spot last year for pork. U.S. pork exports to South Korea increased 24% in volume and 6% in value.
