MINSK: Belarus plans to reach $5 billion in export supplies to Latin America in the near future, Belarus Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Guryanov said during an online conference hosted by BelTA.

“Within the next two years, and it was noted at the meeting of the Belarusian president with the heads of the Belarusian diplomatic missions, we should reach $5 billion in export supplies to the countries of Latin America. Here we proceed from the current work and promising projects,” the deputy minister said. “Thus, Brazil is a key market in potash fertilizers (alongside with China and India). We will restore our positions on the Brazilian market. Latin America is also very attractive in what concerns Belarusian assembly plants,” he added.

“We also count on cooperation with the countries, with which we still have weak contacts (Columbia and Chile), but we will consistently advance them. Chile is a big consumer of mining equipment and here we offer BelAZ services and mining project monitoring. Peru has already cooperated with Belarus. We are offering new projects to that country,” the deputy minister said.

According to the deputy minister, the Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft made a great headway in its projects in Ecuador, Argentina and other countries. The company keeps its positions in Venezuela and continues the projects it has launched. Not long ago the Ecuadorian capital hosted the second meeting of the intergovernmental commission to sign new agreements on expanding Belorusneft preference in seismic exploration and oil production. Alexander Guryanov underlined that “Belarus uses its experience to attract financial opportunities of third countries.”
