MINSK: Belarusian customs officers stopped more than 270 tonnes of embargoed goods worth more than Br6.7 billion on the border with Russia, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Customs Committee. “In the past several weeks, the Belarusian customs service foiled 17 attempts to bring embargoed fruit and vegetables to the Russian Federation.

Over 271 tonnes of products worth more than Br6.7 billion were seized,” the press service noted. For example, on 1 March Vitebsk customs officials thwarted an attempt to transport 38 tonnes of apples with an estimated value of Br370 million to Russia without the necessary shipping documents.
