Belarusian investors to ‘set up’ vehicles assembling plants in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Belarusian investors have shown their interest in setting up assembly plants of tractors, trucks, dumpers, complete range of agricultural technology and machinery and several other types of engines in Pakistan.

This was revealed by Belarus Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk during the meeting with Federal Minister for Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi at Pak-secretariat.

Vovk said that several Belarus companies were interested in supplying a complete range of Euro II, III and IV compliant engines to Pakistan. The Belarusian Minister also showed investment interest in oil, transport, mining and tyres industry also. He said that his country could also produce tyres within Pakistan as per the specifications of the market.

Staff Reporter adds from Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the Republic of Belarus will sign a memorandum of understanding today (Tuesday) for improving bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, skill development and mineral exploration sectors.

These MOUs will be signed in the presence of Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Andrei Kobyakov, who has also arrived in Islamabad on three days visit. In this regard, KPK CM Parvez Khattak held a meeting with Belorussian Minister for Industries Vitaly Vovk who called on him at the Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad.

The KPK welcomed the offer of enhanced cooperation between his province and Belarus. Later, Belarussian Ambassador Andrey Ermalovich also called on KPK CM where Minister for Education, Energy and Power Mohammad Atif, as well as Secretary Energy and Power and the MD of KPOGDCL were also present.

The visiting Minister of Belarus briefed the Chief Minister about the potential of his country in transferring exploration, infrastructure, transport and food technologies, while the KP Chief Minister informed him about the avenues of investment opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. They also discussed the prospects of the opportunities of trade between the two nations.

The President and CEO of American Energy Group Ltd. R. Pierce Onthank also called on the Chief Minister at the Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad, today and discussed the matters pertaining to oil and gas exploration and development potentials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The KPK Minister for Energy and Power Muhammad Atif and secretary energy and Power, Ali Raza Bhutta were also present on the occasion.The CEO informed that American Energy Group Ltd. is all set to enhance oil and gas exploration and increase its investment in the province.

The visiting CEO expressed confidence over the steps taken by the provincial government for promoting congenial atmosphere to create more investment opportunities and assured that they will contribute to the development of the Province. The Chief Minister was informed that investors worldwide were eager to come to KP and take up projects there by availing the virgin investment opportunities.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Parvez Khattak has said that his government wanted to facilitate the working of international NGOs in the province for making their performance more effective, visible and transparent.
