BRUSSELS: Belgium’s economy grew at a slightly faster rate in the first quarter of the year, preliminary estimates from the National Bank of Belgium revealed.
Gross domestic product rose 0.3 percent from the fourth quarter of 2014, when the economy expanded 0.2 percent. In the third quarter of last year, the economy grew 0.3 percent.In the first quarter of 2014, growth was 0.4 percent.
Year-on-year, GDP rose 0.9 percent in the first three months of the year, after increasing 1 percent in each of the previous two quarters.
The bank also upgraded the growth figure for the year 2014 to 1.1 percent from 1 percent.
