LONDON: Berkeley researchers have conducted a research to study the greenhouse effect and a spike was observed by the researchers in carbon dioxide’s greenhouse effect on Earth’s surface for the first time.
They took the measurements in two North American locations for a time period of 11 years. During that time span, the scientists have noticed an increase in the capacity for atmospheric carbon to absorb thermal radiation from Earth’s surface. Berkeley Lab has reported that this is believed to be linked to the rise in the emission of fossil fuels.
The results of the research have supported the past predictions of the influence of human activities on the greenhouse effect and have also confirmed what today’s climate models predict.
In order to get the findings, the researchers observed CO2’s influence on radiative forcing by noting down the measurements at one site in Oklahoma and another in Alaska.
