ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), the United Nations Asian and Pacific Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development of (UN-APCICT) and ICT have agreed to team up to facilitate women entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses by using modern ICT tools.
UN-APCICT Director Hyeun-Suk Rhee along with Pakistan Institute of ICTs for Development Chief Executive Ammar Jaffri visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry to explore possibilities for collaboration with ICCI for empowering and strengthening the women entrepreneurs by providing them training how to better use ICTs for business development.
The UN-APCICT director said that the UN’s Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development was working in 30 countries to promote capacity building in the use of ICT with the aim of inclusive and sustainable economic development. She said they have come to Pakistan with the specific mandate to explore the possibilities of partnerships for capacity building of women entrepreneurs in the use of ICTs. She was of the view that the UN-APCICT could develop customised training programmes in Pakistan based on the needs assessment of women entrepreneurs in order to train them to use ICTs for expanding their business ventures.
