KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Export has foiled an attempt to smuggle 1,200 donkey hides to Hong Kong. The customs authorities registered a case against the company.
Sources told Customs Today that they are conducting raids to arrest the suspects who are behind this attempt. They also informed that the officials are trying to know the whereabouts of these donkeys’ meat. Sources said that a decision will be taken after finding solid proof that the meat of donkeys has been destroyed.
According to the Customs sources, the Economic Coordination Committee of parliament has banned the export of donkey hides. Sources said that the last NOC was issued for export of donkey hides on August 25, 2015 in which 2,500 donkey hides were exported to China.
