ISLAMABAD: Collectorate of Customs team deputed at New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA) foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of mobile phones worth Rs10 million.
Sources said that the Pakistan Custom personnel conducted an operation at New Islamabad Airport and detained a passenger arriving from Qatar after foiling an attempt to smuggle mobile phones worth more than 10 million rupees.
As per Custom sources, the passenger Umar Zameer reached Islamabad by flight QR-614 from Qatar. The custom officials stopped him at the International arrival hall and seized 73 mobile phones from his possession. Moreover, the passenger could not provide any tax details regarding 73 seized mobile phones.
“The detained passenger belongs to Chakwal and came from Dubai. A case has been registered against the accused Umar Zameer,” said Custom officials.
