Big quantity of drugs recovered from Torkham customs station area

PESHAWAR: On a tip-off, some checkposts were set up in the jurisdiction of Torkham customs station to prevent the drug trafficking. The order to set up checkposts was given by Superintendent Police Torkham.

The sources on Wednesday said the Torkham Customs Police intercepted a private pickup No: D-1710 and recovered six kg heroin of high quality.

The drug traffickers and a driver were arrested with the confiscation of heroin.

The sources added that almost 60 kg hashish concealed in the truck was also recovered during the checking. The hashish was concealed under the layer of stones loaded on the said truck.

Two smugglers, identified as Rehman Ullah and Shad Khan, were residents of Khyber Agency.

Acting upon another tip-off, the sepoys intercepted a Toyota Corolla car and recovered 100 kg hashish from the secret cavities of the car. A person on board identified as Said Gul, a resident of Peshawar, was apprehended during the operations. The customs police stood first to check the goods and vehicles at the entry and exit points.

The Custom Police Peshawar Airport has also arrested a foreign bound passenger named Sanaullah, a resident of Khyber Agency, at the Bacha Khan Airport Peshawar while boarding for Dammam via Sharjah by Air Arabia Flight No. G9-557 and recovered 1.85 kg amphetamine concealed in his handbag.
