COLOMBO: Minister of Industries and Commerce Affairs Rishard Badeudeen says the bilateral trade between Sri Lanka and India has shown a 6.3 percent growth. At a meeting held recently at the Chamber of Commerce he said both countries are keen on implementing strategies to expand bilateral trade.
Last years bilateral trade of the two states was amounting to 4.9 billion US dollars. India now imports local seeds, pepper, apparel and naval vessels as well. Participating at this meeting Deputy High Commissioner of India Arindam Bangow said the political changes that took place in both countries recently have led to the expansion of bilateral trade. Accordingly, a top level Indian trade delegation will visit Sri Lanka in October.
