Bilour slams KPK govt for opposing role of private sector in BoK

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) parliamentary leader in Senate and leader of Businessman Forum, Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour has criticized the provincial government for opposing the role of private sector in growth of Bank of Khyber.

According to  a statement issued here, Senator Ilyas Bilour said they are against any move of the provincial government and Minister for Finance, to oppose contribution of private sector in development of the Bank of Khyber (BoKs). He said the negative attitude and mentality of Jamaat-e-Islami and the Minister of Finance will discourage the private sector. He said that the Bank of Khyber should not be made “Ghar Ki Luandi’.

Due to his efforts, Bilour said that people belonging to private sector had met with former chief minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, who warmly welcomed the interest of private sector for investment in Bank of Khyber. Following that, he said the private investors had become shareholders in the bank.

ANP senior leader said due to efforts of former ANP-led provincial government, the current shares of Bank of Khyber’s have been swelled from Rs.2.5 to Rs.11 in stock market and the bank has first time achieved dividend.

Senator Ilyas Bilour said the opposition of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance, who belongs to ruling Jamaat-e-Islami, toward private sector, would push the Bank of Khyber to downward. He said the bank is prime financial institute of the province, for which they had taken practical steps for making it a more profitable.

He said his party has strongly opposed any such move which could harmful for the Bank of Khyber and discouraging private sector in banking sector.
