TOKYO: “Mass Effect 4” is said to be a working title of the game, which is the next entry in the “Mass Effect” universe created by game developer BioWare. Electronic Arts, the game’s publisher has not set a release date, although the game’s development was announced during the E3 in 2014.

Game details were said to have been shared through an online survey that the developer supposedly conducted among a select group of respondents. These details were consequently leaked online via a “notorious video game leaker.” One report in iDigitalTimes said that this particular leaker was known to be a reliable source of major game leak stories time and again.

Another report in GameSpot, however, said that while the details presented in the survey may be accurate, it may not reflect what was implemented in the game’s final design, since whatever was mentioned in the survey are likely to have been design ideas only.

Based on the details in the alleged survey, the game will have a new hero who will take on the role of “pathfinder” explorer tasked to find a “new home for humanity.” BioWare has confirmed that the hero of the “Mass Effect” trilogy, Commander Shepard will no longer appear in the upcoming game.

The game will reportedly be set in a much bigger game world, bigger than that in “Mass Effect 3,” which will span hundreds of solar systems. Previous Gameplay components from “Mass Effect 3” such as being able to choose two companions to join the player in missions will still are present in the new game.

Players may be able to go on side quests that involve raiding ancient ruins and activating “Remnant Monoliths” which can bring them additional loot and crafting resources. As for interstellar missions, players are said to be able to establish settlements on planets considered habitable.

Among the confirmed details that BioWare has already shared is that the game will share many of the “core features” of “Dragon Age: Inquisition,” likely in terms of the systems that are working in the background. BioWare also shared that they will use the Frostbite engine to create the game.
