ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has refuted the reports of banning Blackberry services in the country, saying the company can continue its services if it gives law-enforcing agencies access to its Enterprise Services (BES).
A PTA official said that the company has been asked to provide access to its secure Enterprise Services from last many years. “We have issued a notice to the company to provide data access within 90 days, otherwise its services would be blocked,” he add.
He said, even if the BES services are blocked, the Canadian handset manufacturer’s customers in the country would continue using Internet and other services on their phones. There are between 4000-5000 Blackberry users in the country.
