OTTAWA: BlackBerry started rolling out BBM new update 2.7.0.69 for iOS which enable it a custom PIN and ad-free option. BlackBerry revealed that its total users reached over 160 million registered with 85 million being active.
The latest stat on the popular messaging app was from last week when the company hit the milestone of 100 million downloads on Google Play. The total number of BBM downloads, active users, and revenue will most likely be updated during its next quarterly conference call.
BBM for Android was recently updated to bring custom PINs, ad-free option, and support for Android Wear. Today, BlackBerry brought these new features to iOS users. BBM for iOS has been updated to version 2.7.0.69 and gives users the ability to have a vanity PIN and also remove the ads from your feed. Of course, there is a cost — a custom PIN is priced at $1.99/month and for $0.99/month you’ll see the ads vanish.
In addition, this update brings landscape support, share photos within group chats, and BBM can now be locked with a passcode or Touch ID.
