OTTAWA: Blackberry has introduced BBM Protect for Android and iOS devices. The new product is a high-security messaging app that allows users to chat without worrying about potential hacks.
Blackberry has been giving out the BBM Protect to enterprises who deal with confidential data transfer, and since other apps in the market are not reliable in terms of security the new platform by Blackberry should prove to be a good alternative.
Earlier BBM protect was only accessible through Blackberry devices but now devices running Android and iOS can also use the feature. To use the service one can start a protected conversation on the BBM Protect and even invite non-BBM protected users into the conversation, as long as they have the BBM app on their device.
According to the Ponemon Institute, cost per breach for a firm has exceeded $6 million USD, still enterprises highly depend on normal instant messaging apps for better reach and speed but cleaning up after a data breach can be highly troublesome and will neutralize all the productivity gained by the normal messaging app.
Blackberry claims that their software will save the consumer from ‘man in the middle’ hacker attacks to provide greater security than other instant messaging apps present in the market.
