NEW DELHI: Blackphone 2, which was introduced by Silent Circle at MWC 2015 earlier this year, is now finally up for pre-orders and will start shipping next month. Although the security-focused handset’s shipping date is out, the firm has not yet revealed the price of the smartphone.

The Blackphone 2 pre-order site does not feature a price; however, the company had revealed a suggested retail price of $629 (roughly Rs. 41,100) back at MWC 2015 – the same as the first Blackphone. The final price might slightly change but is expected to fall in line with the previously made announcement.

Silent Circle has also rebranded PrivatOS, now calling it Silent OS. The handset features a 5.5-inch full-HD display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and is powered by an unspecified 64-bit octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. The handset also includes 4G LTE connectivity and a microSD card slot. A 3060mAh battery is also included inside the handset.

It is worth mentioning that while the previous PrivatOS version allowed the user to make and receive secure calls, send encrypted text messages, store files securely and browse the web through an anonymous VPN, the new version lets them assign different logins for different sections inside the device. Users will be able to assign a login for document apps and set a different login for communication apps.
