MUNICH: Future mobility of its customers was the theme at German car producer BMW AG’s 100th anniversary here on Monday.

“I firmly believe that personal mobility is once again at the dawn of a new and thrilling era,” said CEO Harald Krueger at a press conference held in the brand new BMW building, where the company began operations on March 7, 1916.

“To develop customized solutions, we need to see mobility within the broader context of individuals’ lives. Mobility is going to diversify. In the future, people will want access to the right mobility solution for their needs in any given situation,” Krueger added.

According to him, BMW was going to turn data into intelligence for a better quality of life, which meant that its cars would soon be digital chauffeurs which would anticipate what people want to do, making lives easier.

“As a vehicle producer, we need to develop a fuller understanding of mobility in all its facets and address the new points we discover,” Krueger said.

As the highlight of the celebration, joined by more than 2,000 guests, the Bavarian company unveiled a new concept car called “BMW Vision Next 100.”

After its world debut in Munich, the new concept car will go on a symbolic world tour to China, the United Kingdom and the United States.
