BMW Group sees sales increase in China

BERLIN: German car producer BMW Group reported on Monday that sales of BMW and Mini cars have achieved a notable increase from January to November in China. A total of 472,705 units have been sold in the first eleven months in the Chinese mainland, the biggest market in Asia for the BMW Group, representing a year-on-year increase of 11.2 percent, according to a statement.

The Bavarian company also reported record sales for November, at 209,743 units, marking an increase of 6.2 percent year-on-year. As a result, a total of 2,152,393 units have been delivered worldwide in the first 11 months, up by 5.8 percent year on year from a year earlier.

“We have achieved another month of solid growth across all the BMW Group’s premium brands,” said Ian Robertson, member of the board of management for sales and marketing. “We have grown our sales every month since November 2011, five years of continuously increasing sales, in line with the expansion of our model range. The addition of our electrified vehicles has made a significant contribution to that growth and that segment is growing month-on-month,” he added.
