BMW revenue jumps 14.7% to 23.7b in Q1

MUNICH: German automaker BMW Group reported new record sales volume, revenues, and profit before tax in the first quarter of 2015.

According to BMW’s report, the company’s automobile sales volume climbed by 8.1 percent to 526,669 units, setting a new record for the period.

Meanwhile, revenues grew significantly by 14.7 percent to 20.9 billion euros (23.7 billion U.S. dollars), and profit before tax improved by 5.1 percent to 2.27 billion euros.

“We have got off to a good start in 2015,” commented Norbert Reithofer, chairman of the board of management for BMW.

On the other hand, the motorcycle branch of the company also experienced continued good performance. Sales volume climbed by 9.2 percent to 31,370 units, while revenues for the three-month period grew by 20.1 percent to 567 million euros, according to the Bavarian company.
