ISLAMABAD: Telephone Industries of Pakistan (TIP) Board of Directors has asked the auditor general of Pakistan (AGP) to audit the accounts of the telephone industries of the last 10 years.
The decision was taken at TIP’s 185th BoD’s meeting, held under the chairpersonship of State Minister for IT & Telecom Anusha Rehman, a handout said. The board categorically stated that TIP had not been authorised to use their accounts for the payment of electricity and other utility bills of other entities and their employees. It directed TIP’s management to resolve all its outstanding financial issues with the management of PTCL and NRTC, amicably, and within 15 days.
“Let all stakeholders pay their respective utility liabilities themselves,” the board asserted. It reiterated that TIP resources should only be used for the mandated purposes.
The TIP Board also asked for scrutinising the outstanding land ownership matters of TIP properties in Haripur and Islamabad, as per legal opinion obtained from the Ministry of Law and Justice and the recommendations of Senate Standing Committee.
