WASHINGTON: Bolloré Transport & Logistics has finalised its concession contract for the new port of Dili, Timor Leste, in an official signing ceremony. Bolloré Ports, a division of Bolloré Transport & Logistics, was selected for the implementation of the project following an international call for tenders launched by the Timor Leste authorities. The contract represents the country’s first public-private partnership signed for a 30-year term.
The global investment is set at $490m over the term of the concession and comprises the following: construction of a 630m wharf with a draft of 15m; the creation of a 27ha yard; and the acquisition of a two ship-to-shore gantry cranes and five rubber-tyred gantry cranes on start-up.
Philippe Labonne, deputy chief executive of Bolloré Transport & Logistics and chief executive of Bolloré Ports, said: “We are very proud to have been selected to work with the Timor Leste authorities. By facilitating trade, this project will give new impetus to the country’s economy, for the benefit of all its inhabitants.” The new port will be located 12km from Dili in Tibar Bay. Bolloré Ports is expected to carry out an environmental impact study in the coming year.
