Border patrol agents arrest convicted sex offender at Carrizo Springs Station

TEXAS: US Border Patrol agents assigned to the Carrizo Springs Station apprehended a convicted sex offender with an extensive criminal history on April 26.

Agents patrolling on a local ranch encountered Sergio Paul Martinez-Molina, 42, an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala. During processing, agents discovered that Martinez-Molina had been previously deported from the United States and was a convicted sex offender. Criminal records checks revealed that the subject was apprehended for driving under the influence and larceny by Homestead Police in Homestead, Florida, in 1995. Records checks also revealed in that in 2012 Martinez-Molina was convicted in Fairfax County, Virginia, of “Take Indecent Liberties” with a child and sentenced to five years in prison. Martinez-Molina was subsequently ordered removed from the United States via Arlington, Virginia, by an Immigration Judge in 2013.

Martinez-Molina faces a charge of illegal re-entry after deportation – 8 U.S. Code § 1326 –­ and his prior order of removal will be reinstated. He will be removed to his native country upon completion of all criminal proceedings.
