Bosnia’s annual inflation speeds up in March

SARAJEVO: Bosnia and Herzegovina’s annual inflation rate rose to 1.4% in March from 1.2% a month earlier, data from the country’s statistical office showed on Wednesday.

Inflation reflected an increase in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.3%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 4.2%, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 1.7%, health by 0.4%, education by 0.9%, recreation and culture by 1.1%, transport by 9.0% and restaurants and hotels by 0.7%, according to a monthly inflation report posted on the website of Bosnia’s Agency for Statistics. On a monthly comparison basis, Bosnia’s consumer prices edged up 0.1% in March, after rising 0.3% in February. Higher prices were recorded in the sectors of clothing and footwear, health and transport, education, restaurants and hotels and other goods and services. In 2016, Bosnia and Herzegovina annual deflation expanded to 1.1% from 1.0% in 2015.
