FBR BTB recovers Rs 5m from 400 Lahorites bank accounts

LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue, Broadening of Tax Base (BTB) recovered Rs 5 million from 400 Lahorites who purchased luxury vehicles and real estates from 2009 to 2015, sources said.

According to the sources, the FBR Islamabad detected 30,000 rich people who purchased luxury vehicles and real estate but payed no tax during the period 2009-15.

The sources dded that the FBR BTB issued several notices to the taxpayers, asking them to clear outstanding dues but they did not complied with.  Finally, the BTB sealed bank accounts of 400 taxpayers and recovered Rs 5,000,000 from them.

The FBR contacted with State Bank of Pakistan, seeking accounts details of these potential taxpayers, sources said, adding that after attaining the detai,l the FBR will attached the accounts to recover tax liabilities from them.
