ISLAMABAD: The increasing trend of ‘brand consciousness’ in students had multiplied the challenges to the manufacturing companies to produce quality stuff for purchasers. According to a survey conducted on Monday, the increasing level of consciousness in people particularly the youth regarding branded items, had resulted start of competition among different popular brands to deliver unique things in the markets. It was also witnessed in a survey that many youth mainly prefer to buy expensive branded stuff due to its quality and impressive look rather buying items of local brands. It also observed that due to social media, this trend was growing fast due to the online shopping websites and now many people in our society were very much conscious about brands and throw away money just to update their wardrobes every season. A college student Rija Mehar said,”Every brand owner wants to produce something different and unique so that their customers can aspire to a certain status by using their products.” “I prefer to buy my cloths of international brand by paying 100 percent additional amount, but this is not a big deal as such branded things have long life and impressive look,” Maleha Khan, a university student said.
She said that this was not true that only female were brand conscious, now this trend in the society was speeding up equally both in boys and girls.
She said “Every girl wants to make herself different from other by using branded shoes, bags, jewelry and hair accessories etc.”
Arsalan Qureshi, a university student said “Our country’s youth were becoming very conscious about brands as they want to make their outlook more attractive and stylish with the use of branded clothes like shirts, shoes, jeans, T-shirt, jackets etc.” A housewife Amna Hasan said,”There was a competition among people nowadays as everyone tries to look better than the other therefore updates wardrobe day by day.”
She said “Women go to exhibitions and sales in franchises where they buy overpriced garments, shoes etc.”
A college teacher Saima Jabeen said young people had their own mindset about branded items as they consider that by using branded items they can have more respect in the society besides admiration from the others.
“However I have different point of view as elevation in the society was not only possible by using branded items but actually there were several other things which needed to have in the personality,” she added.
She said “Majority of the outfits available in different designers’ outlets were so expensive that only the elite class can shop from there.”
