Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.15%

BRASÍLIA: Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher. At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.15%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which rose 5.39% or 0.93 points to trade at 18.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Bradesco SA Pref (SA:BBDC4) added 3.87% or 1.01 points to end at 27.14 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 3.54% or 1.05 points to 30.75 in late trade. The worst performers of the session were Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4), which fell 2.64% or 0.25 points to trade at 9.23 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) declined 2.47% or 0.32 points to end at 12.62 and Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) was down 2.47% or 1.81 points to 71.35. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 176 to 161 and 42 ended unchanged.

Shares in Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.54% or 1.05 to 30.75. The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.87% to 32.90 a new 1-month low. Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.50% or 6.31 to $1262.29 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.75% or 1.74 to hit $44.72 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.50% or 0.63 to trade at $125.75 . USD/BRL was down 1.06% to 3.2795, while EUR/BRL fell 1.04% to 3.6771. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 96.90.
